I'm providing free mediation services this month—here's why and how.

Making good choices
Making good choices

Breaking through into mediation is not easy. I've spoken to a number of seasoned mediators recently and the feedback is universal, it's hard to get started and its hard to build momentum. Whatever reputation you may have as a business person, lawyer, negotiator or diplomat is not enough to encourage a potential client to choose you. There is a price differential of course between those at the begining of their mediation career and those with hundreds of mediations behind them but it doesn't seem to be enough. A good dash of luck is required as well. One expert I spoke with this week told me how he only got his first instruction when the booked mediator was a no show.

In situations where luck is a factor, I often reference Samuel Goldwyn's saying: "The harder I work, the luckier I get." I believe in creating my own luck. Therefore, I am offering my mediation services entirely free of charge for any instructions received in October 2025.

I am open to mediating any type of conflict, as long as I believe I am capable and there is no conflict of interest. My fees will solely cover out-of-pocket expenses (at cost) and the provision of a venue for the mediation, if requested.

So if you have that dispute that needs resolution but the sums do not warrant litigation? Perhaps you have conflict in the workplace that just needs a neutral third party to help rebuild working relations? Maybe its a neighbour dispute or maybe shareholders are at odds with eachother. Whatever the issue, get in touch, after all what have you got to lose?
